The prospector found a 1.2-kilogram gold nugget valued at $63,000 hidden just beneath the ground – and he says there’s more nearby.

The nugget was found 15cm below ground in the Charters Towers area of North Queensland by a man using a Minelab GPX 5000 detector.

The life-changing find came after the prospector saw a double rainbow near his campy the day before and decided to search under the highest point of the arc.

A lucky prospector has unearthed a gigantic gold nugget (pictured) weighing in at 1.1763 kilograms and worth $63,800

‘I said to myself that’s where we’re going to find gold tomorrow but I never thought it would be so much,’ said the Queenslander, who asked not to be named.
